Did Pick n Pay actually listen to me?
On Friday I wrote the following post in which I criticised Pick n Pay for allegedly removing the white woman from their banner when they added their new logo to the website.
I also, emailed Pick n Pay and asked them to comment as I really wanted to find out the motivation for doing so and while I have had some correspondence I am still awaiting an official response.
While the general consensus is that Pick n Pay deliberately removed the white woman there have been others who have criticised my approach and claim it was just a simple error on their part.
I visited the Pick n Pay website this morning and look at what I found:

Justin, the whole world delights in your great achievment!! You truly are wonderul. You my friend merely lend yourself to the new catch phrase: PnP, Inspired by you [Justin]. News out: Justin Hartman controls SA’s biggest retailer, he is the puppet master

The PnP site is in a mess – state of flux might be a better description.
The home page features the new facebookish logo:
http://www.pnp.co.za/
http://www.pnp.co.za/images/headers/head_home.gif
Whilst some of the content pages still features the 1930 logo:
http://www.pnp.co.za/left_click_through/index.php?id=330
http://www.pnp.co.za/images/headers/head1.gif
The above is especially funny, it’s all about the “new” PnP …
Me thinks Inxcom (“Produced by Inxcom”) should be fired – the above page does not even have a title!

One last thing about this, some pages feature the old logo with people, others the “40 year old” logo.
The least that they could have done, was to update their web site in sync with the corporate identity change (to be fair, the online shopping site seems to be in sync).

@Johan I noticed this as well. When Groogle posted about the PnP website I honestly believe that their strategy did not include the revamp of the site.
It’s weird because you’d expect the site to be redone at the same time as the rebranding however it seems like they’re playing catchup now.
I’m sure a new site is on its was because all they’ve managed to do is change the header.

Pity they didn’t erase their new logo whilst they were at it…

Seems that wasn’t the only allegations of racial discrimination against P&P:

At least here they have the white lady back, albeit with the old logo…

Dude, if pick n pay doesn’t care about white people why would they have listened to you? The logo debacle was just due to pure laziness. I think that’s pretty evident by the new logo (another simple deletion) and the fact that the website is in such a mess. The white man may be targeted in South Africa today, but that’s not the case here. This is just a big joke.
(p.s. I noticed that even you could not remove the “ality” written over the white woman when you inserted her onto the new logo on your post on Friday. They obviously were too lazy or didn’t know how to either so they simply deleted her.)

@ johan: I saw your posts, but maybe you’re right since I don’t understand how I’m repeating what you said in your post?
In essence my comment is: at least on the “discrimination” issue page they don’t have all the races represented (ie, the irony behind it).
Salut.

br!ghtshark – don’t stress
They are using at least 3 different header logos, depending on the page. But it would appear as if only the pages with all the 3 people does not have a title. The site is a disgrace, we are spending way too much time discussing it!
And the irony – quite funny, actually.
