New Firefox Security Issue

CSS Expert needed
Ok so I’m getting really frustrated with CSS and Internet Explorer. Why Micro$oft can’t create a better standards-based browser I will never know. They’ve done much better with IE7 but still it’s a freeking mess if you ask me.
I’ve been working on this really cool project and I’ve developed (like most) using Firefox as my browser of choice. Being a Linux man I don’t even have IE on my machines so you can imagine my frustration when I see my hard work look like crap in IE6 & 7.
I am desperate for someone to help me get my CSS file right for IE6 & 7. The site looks and works great in Firefox 1.5, Firefox 2.0, Safari and Opera but it’s just that elusive IE that is messing with my head.
I would need for that special someone to optimise my CSS file (removing all the junk) and obviously fix up whatever mess there is with IE so that the site looks like it should. It’s rather an urgent thing this so if you’ve got the skills pop me a mail me@justinhartman.com and I’ll give you more info and you can give me a price.

Web Standards
I’ve been spending a few minutes this morning reading on the net and it seems that Web Standards has crept into the wood-work once again. I say once again but in truth this is an issue that should be on the forefront of everyone’s mind more so if you are a website owner.
Two interesting items came up which I’d like to share with you. The first is a quote made by Bill Gates when he invited bloggers and industry leaders up to Redmond to discuss Microsoft’s outreach to its communities via the upcoming MIX07 conference. In the original post from Molly.com she is hounding Bill about various issues that relate to Web Standards and what Microsoft are doing about it. Bill’s response:
Who has done more implementation of Web standards than Microsoft?
If you’re a developer you’ll realise just how pathetic this quote is as we are forever developing for two extremes, Web Standards and Internet Explorer. As Molly says Microsoft were inventive and the leaders when they pioneered Internet Explorer but when they hit version 6 something went horribly wrong. It’s a good piece and worth the read.
The second item is a resource aimed at any developer/designer/website owner and provides a great Web Standards Checklist to work off. There are many factors when trying to get your website compliant and this is a great place to start.

Google Browser Sync
I think that the majority of people are aware of the Google Toolbar for Firefox but what I don’t know is if people are aware that Google have developed a whole series of Extensions for Firefox.
The Google Firefox Extensions page gives you a long list of various add-ons for Firefox but the one which I recently discovered and now find invaluable is the Browser Sync extension.

Firefox not free?
I’ve been running Debian on my Apple iBook for about a week now and a recent upgrade to the unstable version of Debian made me realise that Firefox has been renamed Iceweasel. This was particularly strange to me and I couldn’t understand where this funny name came from suddenly so I decided to do some research.
It turns out that when most people think about the Firefox browser, they think of it as being open source and free but I have found that this is actually not true. While Mozilla Firefox is open source it is not entirely free and it may not even be legally compatible with Debian.
